Treatment Information

Additional Services

Medical oncology

Southeast Treatment Center's physicians coordinate virtually every aspect of patient care.

They consult with colleagues in diagnostic radiology, radiation and medical oncology, and surgery to ensure the best possible diagnosis and treatment. Oncology-certified nurses assist SETC's physicians in all aspects of patient care, support, and education.

Non-oncology services

Because cancer attacks in a variety of ways, it has to be fought with a variety of treatment options. Southeast Cancer Center offers a complete range of these options, developing specific plans for each patient.

Nutrition counseling

To combat the dietary challenges of cancer, SETC provides nutrition counseling and diet-planning services that adress the use of vitamins and other supplementation.

Laboratory

SETC's in-house laboratory provides convenient and timely specialized genetic testing for patients.

Other non-oncology services

In addition to cancer treatment, SETC's equipment has a number of non-oncology applications. Physicians use equipment like the PET scanner, MRI, and ultrasound in neurology and psychiatry (diagnosing Alzheimer's Disease and movement disorders like Parkinson's Disease), orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, and related applications. SETC's infusion center provides IV therapy for patients with AIDS and blood disorders. Radiation therapy offers intravascular radiotherapy to prevent in-stent restenosis following coronary angioplasty.

SETC will soon offer CT screening scans for full body, heart (cardiac calcification screening), and lungs, as well as virtual colonoscopies.

Diagnostic Radiology

Diagnostic radiology services track the effectiveness of the therapy, providing the foundation of a successful treatment program.

Since cancer cells act very differently from normal cells, analysis of how x-rays, sound waves, radioactive particles, and magnetic fields pass through tissues reveals a great deal, guiding the decisions made throughout treatment.

Diagnostic options available at SETC include:

  • Positron emission tomography
  • Magnetic resonance imaging
  • Computed tomography
  • Ultrasound
  • Cardiovascular ultrasound (echocardiography)
  • X-ray
  • Nuclear medicine
  • Radiology-guided needle biopsy
